Probably gives the impression of a poor person who wants a 4x4.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it and think it is worth far more than what I paid for it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. This is my 2nd. Be wary of the early 2.4D imports the heads can crack as i know from experience.The 3.0 TD is a much better choice. Go for the gen 3 with the multimode 4 wheel drive.
What are you likely to buy next?
Another Surf import. At the price and reliability I can't complain. Spend ££s on a new car that loses money or spend little on an older reliable one with money in the bank for fuel and repairs when required. Being older they also fall outside the silly road tax levels.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, bought from an owner on one of the forums. Owner said TC had gone in autobox and was making a thumping sound. Test drove the vehicle and came to the conclusion it was the rear prop that was failing.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Cost and reliability. Yes they are old, but built like tanks. I actually have the gen 3 model import surf on a 96 N plate.

What's it like to drive?
If you worry about fuel economy its not for you. Averages 22 round town 28 at a push on motorway. Auto is effortless, plenty of power to keep up with todays modern cars. Suspension can be hard and crashy, but normally indicates shocks are worn and need changing.
What's it like to park?
Not a problem really.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Replaced rear prop shaft, 2nd hand £60. Replaced front anti roll bar bushes £35. General oil and filter service. Passed MOT first time.
What's most practical about your car?
Everything. plenty of room, easy to drive, good driving position.If you live country side OK in mud snow etc.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Non really, has usual things, central locking, air con, 4x elec eindows, elec sunroof.
