2.0 VVT-i petrol, though a willing unit, feels underpowered. Go for the 2.0 diesel version: it’s competent at all speeds and rather economical. Both versions cruise quietly and smoothly.
Sharp steering; suspension is well damped and the handling is firm; overall ride is good; gearchange isn’t as precise as it is in other Toyotas; clearly laid out instruments; visibility hampered by chunky quarterlight frame next to windscreen.
