Summary
What does this car say about you?
It probably says that I am conservative about reliability and that I like a good value of brand, reliability, cost, practicality and driving experiences. It probably doesn't say that I am adventurous and its right! I would rather play it safe knowing that these cars will probably not let me down!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Friends who have been chauffeured around like the space, pick up and practicality of the car. They are also easily impressed with the large boot space. Some think its dull but I tell them, I have other ways that keep me excited and with a car, I would rather have it dull and safe!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would - the reliability, practicality and predictability of the car is great.
What are you likely to buy next?
A hybrid. Probably a Honda Insight or Toyota Prius. Failing that, a BMW 520d which will combine power, reliability and fuel efficiency well.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£2,700
When did you buy the car?
April 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
I think I got a good deal. The company owner had only bought it a year ago from Toyota main dealers as an approved car for nearly £5,000. I bought it off him as a private sale for half that amount.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
The reliability of the Avensis was one key factor. The car had reasonable mileage, had recently been sold as approved car to the last company owner (for £4,780!) who had to sell because of a new company car. The car had some extras like reverse parking sensors, Parrott MKi9200 Bluetooth kit and electric towbar. The car was virtually spotless inside and out.
What was the dealer like?
He was a genuine person, a professional and a delight to deal with. He gave time to view, test drive and check documentation.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's fun to drive. The engine is quiet, the steering is responsive though not much feedback from the steering at high speeds. I feel in control of the drive anyway and am able to overtake when I want to, safely. The visibility is good at the front, back and sides and its been a pleasure to drive the car. Long journeys are also a pleasure because of the comfortable and well supported seats.
What's it like to park?
Easy to park with vision on sides clear. The parking sensor makes it a very straight-forward process.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Apart from brake pads, nothing has gone wrong.
What's most practical about your car?
The spacious seats and the large boot has been very accommodating particularly as I have two little kids. The cavernous boot takes in everything!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I love the Parrott MKi9200 hands free kit. The parking sensor is very handy too and one I wouldn't be without.
