Toyota Avensis Hatchback (2003 - 2008) 2.0 D-4D T3-X 5d (06) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
As I have said the Avensis is not what you would class as a drivers car like the BMWs are but unlike the BMWs you won’t be spending hundreds of pounds keeping it going. You can go from A-B and feel just as fresh at the end of the journey as at the start. The two things I was not happy about are that when I purchased the car, I got recalled for an engine management re map, this I feel took the edge off the performance that had originally drawn me to the Avensis, the other was when I decided to get a caravan and found out that the Avensis was downgraded on the weight it could pull, which I think was 1300kg, most vans I was looking at were above that, so it’s no good for towing.
How reliable do you find the car?
Having had this car from new, the only things I have had to repair or change have been a windscreen washer pump and a brake light bulb, apart from that I did have to clean out the EGR valve that got a bit carbon build up, (4 bolts and cleaning fluid, job done) Yes that’s it except for the things you change on every car ie. tyres battery, brake pads, oil and filters. The Avensis is not a drivers car but boy is it reliable. I honestly can’t fault it, it has never let me down, and it can get a move on if it’s needed. Would I but another? Well yes I would in a flash. After 14 years you expect to see a bit of rust starting underneath but so far the bodywork is still in excellent condition with no signs of any rust topside. I have had many cars over the years that have also been very reliable, but none can match this one so far.About their car
