Toyota Avensis Saloon 2.0 D4-D 4d (SR) (2000/W) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Excellent, twin cam 16v common rail diesel's are worth the extra. Some minor niggles with interior trim rattling (not what you would expect of Toyota) but other than that..…
Costs
Main dealer costs are around average, maybe a little higher than expected.

On the road
Driving
Excellent comfort, used for long distance cruising so is perfect for the job. Neat and tidy in the twisties, but has a fair amount of body roll.
Performance
Strong. Modern diesel seems underpowered on paper but in real world is more than adequate with a large lump of torque allowing rapid in gear performance.

Living with it
Reliability
Toyota's ace card. I cover 30k a year and it hasn't faulted so far, even on the coldest of mornings the diesel jumps into life with no fuss.
Image
Not exactly inspired styling but at least the SR has spoiler, fog lamps, alloys and the TTE springs I have should improve the ride height.
Comfort
Excellent. Very comfortable with good lumbar support and smooth, cosseting ride.

Security and Service
Security
Remote central locking, alarm, immobiliser and bland looks mean you can be sure it will be there when you get back.

Problems and Ownership

Interior trim is not as rattle free as you would expect from a Toyota. Dad owns a '92 Camry that is completely rattle free (maybe because the Camry is Japanese built, the Avensis British built!!!)
