Toyota Avensis Saloon 2.0 D-4D T3-X 4d (2004/04) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money provided you push the dealer for discount (they can be surprisingly generous)!
Costs
The diesel is very economical, particularly at cruising speeds - the fuel gauge hardly seems to move. Certainly visiting the pump a lot less than with my old petrol Rover 600.

Driving
Very stable and comfortable ride. Excellent driving position and can go all day without getting aches. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is because there is more wind noise than you would expect in a car of this quality at motorway speeds.
Performance
Not spectacular but enough to keep most drivers happy. Impressive acceleration when needed and, with the common rail diesel, keeps delivering power right up the rev counter.

Living with it
Reliability
Not had it long but - it's a Toyota!
Image
A friend of mine mistakely thought it was a Merc when he first saw it. OK, some will turn their nose up at the Toyota badge, but this car is as far away from the 'tin and plastic' image as you can get.
Comfort
I've driven Audi's, Mercs and BMW's which are not as well spec'd as this nor as comfortable a ride.

Security and Service
Security
Only had the car three months and no-one has tried to steal it (as far as I know). Good level of security equipment and a couple of nice touches for extra peace of mind which I only found out about after I'd bought it.
Service
Not yet needed to have the car serviced, but the sales and after-sales experience was excellent. Have already been back to the same dealer with my daughter to buy a Yaris.
