Summary
What does this car say about you?
I value quality and solidity in a car. It's quite handsome for a big saloon too!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Impressed. Liked the smoothness and the quality feel. Also commented on the looks!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'd definately consider one if the point came to replace my current car. I liked the solid feel and the fuss-free experience of driving it.
What are you likely to buy next?
Not looking to change yet, but my experience of the Avensis has opened my eyes to Toyota - I haven't generally been a fan of them in the past but perhaps they deserve a second look?

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fairly obedient, goes where it's pointed and with little fuss, but wouldn't call it fun as the steering doesn't communicate as much as it should. Rides supremely well, treats potholes with disdain, and if you spend a lot of time on the motorway the Avensis is a very soothing long-distance cruiser. 2.2 Litre diesel engine is a bit gruff towards the top end of the rev range but performs well enough.
What's it like to park?
It's a big old barge (in the nicest sense!) so the reversing camera was a huge help. Doesn't fit easily in most supermarket car parks so choose your space carefully!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Well, only had it for a week on hire, but it felt well-screwed together and certainly didn't notice any issues during my time with it.
What's most practical about your car?
It's absolutely massive! I mean that in a good way - acres of rear space and the boot is huge, easily swallowed all our luggage during holiday including three large suitcases.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Quite a lot actually - the push button ignition, the reversing camera, the sat-nav, cruise control. Eco-drive indicator good fun to watch if ultimately a bit pointless. Auto gearbox very smooth.
