In their own words
I’ve had my CHR now for two months, doing around 2,000 miles in that time, and I can say that it’s a very relaxing and easy car to drive. I’ve got the 2.0 Design model and it’s got all the equipment that I need from a car. The seats are very comfortable and there is a premium feel to the interior. The 2.0 engine pulls effortlessly and is more than fast enough for me. I’ve not driven the 1.8 model, but have read enough reviews to realise I opted for the better engine for my purposes, especially since I do a few longer journeys every month on motorways.
Fuel consumption is excellent, and I usually get around mid fifties to the gallon, although figures in the 60s and 70s on journeys of over 15 miles or more are not uncommon.
I have had cars with more room in the back, but I didn’t buy my CHR for that. I don’t carry passengers in the back of the car very often, so it’s not big deal for me, but if you do need a lot of rear space, then perhaps the CHR may not be for you.
If I had one, albeit small, criticism, it’s that the car has just one usb socket, at a time when most manufacturers are installing three or four in each of their cars. This however is a minor quibble and certainly doesn’t detract from the day to day functioning of the car.
Overall, I’m extremely impressed with the way the car looks and drives. Full marks to Toyota for going slightly off script in designing this quality car.
