How much space is there?

You’ll easily accommodate four adults in a Camry, but slotting a fifth on the rear bench’s centre seat won’t prove too tricky. There’s lots of space for arms and legs, but rear headroom is slightly pinched by that tapering roofline.

Storage for odds and ends isn’t too bad at all, with good-sized door pockets, a useful glovebox, a small shelf under the dash for storage – and wireless smartphone charging on the Excel – plus two deep cupholders next to the gearlever.

Boot space and storage

There is 524 litres of bootspace available in the Camry’s tail, with rear seatbacks that split/fold in a 60/40 configuration in order to accommodate longer loads.

The Camry is compromised compared with hatchbacks because it’s a four-door saloon with a bootlid, rather than a hatchback with a more practical tailgate. That distinction means that the actual opening for the boot is rather narrow making it somwhat tricky to slide larger, bulkier objects into it in the first place.

Is it easy to park?

At 4,885mm long the Camry isn’t the most unwieldy of large, family saloons, and consequently shouldn’t prove too tricky to park in a supermarket bay or multistorey. A rear parking camera comes as standard.
