Toyota Celica Coupe GT 3d (1996/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of (very reliable) car for not a huge amount of cash.
Costs
Surprising economical for a 2.0 fuel injected engine, if driven sensibly. Put your foot down, however, and it does drink a lot. Parts etc are pretty reasonable for a Japanese sports coupe.

Driving
Handles well for a relatively large front wheel drive car. Suffers a little from understeer though (but not as much as any other car I've owned). Driver feedback is good for such a refined car with power steering - you feel you're in control, not the car.
Performance
Good acceleration through all gears including 5th, even with no modifications. It will easily do the quoted maximum 138mph... :)

Living with it
Reliability
I've owned it for three years and haven't needed any major part replacing - the exhaust/CAT is original from 96, and is still pretty much mint.

Turns heads :)
Comfort
Comfortable and spacious in the front, dashboard/control layout is very well thought out. A bit cramped in the back for a tall person, though.

Security and Service
Security
Standard factory fitted alarm/immobiliser is Thatcham Category 1 - better than most after-market ones - good for insurance quotes. :)
