What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 29 - 35 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Reasonable running costs, servicing and parts are not much more expensive than an Avensis. Insurance is group 12 for the 1.8, with the hotter GT only going up to 15 – even the 1990-2000 MR2 is higher than that. The 1.8 offers creditable fuel consumption at almost 36 mpg, although the 2.0 litre still manages over 30 mpg. Depreciation is below class best, but the good ones always in demand.
The Celica has a fantastic reputation for never breaking down provided servicing is carried out at the proper intervals.
