Toyota Celica Coupe 1.8 VVTi 3d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good all round sports coupe with room for the kids along with the practical benefits of a hatchback.
Costs
Economical to run and low service costs. Front tyres can wear quickly and expensive to retain the right compound for good grip.

On the road
Driving
Enjoy driving this car more than any of my previous 25 cars.
Performance
More than adequate perfomance. More than adequate. Always gets me in and out of tight spots on the motorway. Takes bends and corners at higher speeds and less roll than most cars.

Living with it
Reliability
In nearly 3 years, it has required no more than two tyres and servicing.
Image
Excellent styling. Always gets a look from other motorists and pedestrians, particularly in Red.
Comfort
Probably the best driving position and comfort I have ever had. Rear seat space becomes tight above 5ft 6ins and over 30.
-
Security and Service
Security
Very good with double locking. Alarm a little sensitive with wind and inquistive admirers.
Service
Toyota customer service is the best I have experienced. The staff are the most courteous and knowledgeable I have known. Although that's possibly because they have very little to do.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Drive belt squeaked a little but was changed.
Other
Not a problem, but an irritation. The seat back adjustment not the best I have experienced and the passenger seat setting is lost every time access is given to the back seat.
