Toyota Celica Hatchback GT 3d Auto (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of car for very little money.
Costs
Parts expensive. Good on petrol for 2.0-litre
-
On the road
Driving
Handles lovely. Steering a bit sensitive, though.
Performance
Good acceleration; doesn't kick in until 4000rpm. Excellent top end though.
-
Living with it
Reliability
It's a Toyota - enough said.
Image
Looks much more up to date - a little ahead of its time when new.
Comfort
Very comfortable, no rattles, very quiet even at 100mph. A bit of bodyroll though - perhaps just its age, get it lowered on new shocks and you'll be more than happy.
-
Security and Service
Security
More difficult than most cars to steal, especially ignition - set into dash board not on steering column - get a Cat1 alarm and immobiliser, mainly just for insurance.
Service
Good parts service - usually service my own cars.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Just HT leads (£60-Partco/£120 Toyota). Oil change every 6k.
Other
Small spring on bottom release mechanism snapped due to corrosion.
