Toyota Corolla Hatchback 1.6 Special 3d (1985/C) Owner Review

Economy
Value
This car is great value for money, especially the second hand market.
Costs
Running costs are not so much a problem, it's when major parts need replacing or go wrong that's expensive like all Japanese cars.

On the road
Driving
Great handling and ride ability, slightly let down by strong torque steer.
Performance
This car would not be as popular in it's day if it wasn't for the sheer excellence in its performance. The 16 valve and twin cam based engine really do pull hard once the car is at 4500rpm. Great!

Living with it
Reliability
Brilliant, no problems at all it's a Toyota so expect reliability throught the car's life. This will explain why there is still loads of old Mazda, Nissans, Toyotas about as they just keep on going.
Image
I love the classic 80s sloping wedge style of this car. It attracts its fair share of attention. They are becoming rare now and finding good ones is hit and miss at times.
Comfort
Nice seats, great comfort and posture position with adjustable lumbar support your laughing...not quite they can be slightly annoying on long journeys.

Security and Service
Security
No standard security measures in this car hence the 2 rating. What would you expect on a classic sports car of the 80s where alarms were for the rich and were only seen as an annoying gimmick.
Service
Very good indeed. I wanted some original service parts for my 1985 GT and they managed to source all but one part for me. Well done.
