Toyota GT86 (2012 - 2021) 2.0 (Nav + Leather) 2d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
This is the first daily-driver car I've kept for more than 2 years and I'm not planning to sell any time soon. It's fun, relatively economical, reliable and still turns heads thanks to the low numbers sold in the UK. I was wary as I wanted an automatic because my daily commute means sitting on the M25 in traffic, and the reviews said that it wasn't good. Having since driven a manual, I think I made the right choice. The auto is so much easier to drive and (in my opinion) faster in the real world as there's no need for continual down-shifting to overtake on motorways. The paddles react quickly, and mean that it's still fun when things get twisty. Negative points? It does seem to attract car park dings as the front is very low and there are no side rubbing strips, the stereo isn't great and there are a few rattles in the cabin.
How reliable do you find the car?
I had the usual issue of the "crickets" in the engine bay that affects early cars. Fixed under warranty with a new fuel pump seal. I also had a wheel stud shear in half when I had my tyres changed. Other than that, nothing has gone wrong that was the car's fault.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The handling and steering are sublime... the ride less so, but it's a fair price to pay. It's practical enough for me, and has more interior space and a much bigger boot than an MX-5/124 Spider.About their car
