Toyota IQ (2009 - 2014) 1.0 VVT-i 3d Multidrive Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
The early IQ has a design flaw which causes the aircon drain to run down the bottom of the car and enter the cabin footwells. Both footwells flooded after a couple of days and I wonder if the floor has been flooded for it's entire 15 year life. Still, there is no sign of rust despite the litres of water under the carpets.
The white paint has a defect and has peeled due to poorly applied primer at the factory.
Fuel economy is a little disappointing at 41mpg, I get far more out of a smart for 2 two
The cvt is either brilliant or terrible. I don't feel good about seeing the revs go to 5k rpm to get up to 70 whilst the engine is still cold, but i do enjoy the steady revs whilst crusing around town. It's definitely a city car.
I would buy another, but if I bought again, i would know to look for a couple of extra things now.
The car drives great and feels solid, but knowing about the air con drain issue, i would want to check it has been modified to fix the issue and check under the carpets for mold and damp.
The paint issue is pretty poor from toyota, but can't say it wasn't obvious (I got a good price due to paint defects). Others should be aware the paint could peel at any point and it looking good when you buy doesn't remove that risk.
