Toyota Land Cruiser (2009 - 2023) 2.8 D-4D Active 7 Seats (Leather) 5d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
New or used, don't hesitate to buy a Land Cruiser. As long as you service it properly, it will return many years of service. Even with 300-400,000 miles, there are loads of the old models on the road. Try and buy genuine parts whenever possible it works out cheaper in the long term. To understand how hard wearing they are, checkout high mileage ones and compare them with similar vehicles which might be deemed competitors. When I carry a passenger for the first time, they are amazed how quiet it is for a 60,000 mile diesel vehicle. I had one comment " this must cost you a fortune being petrol". If you want go-kart handling this is not the car for you. The weight is high up and it does weigh just over 2 tonnes, when approaching a bend, do all of your braking beforehand and gently throttle through. This reduces the lean angle and gives your tyres the chance to share the load evenly, thus retaining traction. Running on factory fit Bridgestone Dueller HW tyres wet handling is fine. I have read however that if you swap them for mud tyres, it has less grip and the noise level increases but you get better off road traction. A good compromise might be an All Terrain specification. It is unlikely that I will ever buy a different car again (please Toyota keep LC forever)
How reliable do you find the car?
Reliability is the number one reason why I bought the LC. At 60k I am still on the original tyres (4mm) and brake pads (5mm). I do service it myself in-between dealer servicing but I would rather do the oil change every 5,000 miles than have problems later.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
It will swallow huge amounts of luggage, people and the dog. Whilst not having a huge amount of power or fast 0-60 mph time, when loaded it just carries on pulling. I don't tow but if I did, this is the car that I would want.About their car
