Toyota MR2 (1990 - 2000) GT T-Bar Sports 2d Owner Review

In their own words
For many years I have kept a 'project car' in my garage as I love to fettle and do all my own repairs/servicing. Since Sept 2014 this has been my, now 21 year old, Mk2 MR2. I use it as a fun car for dry roads and Summer days predominantly. It is far and away the best fun-for-the-money car that I have ever owned, and I include my Caterham Seven in that calculation, as it cost ten times as much as the MR2, and although great, was never ten times the fun! The MR2 is not in the same league as a really high powered car, and there are some drivers out there who really like to let you know it! However, with 175bhp there's enough to keep the smile on my face, especially as the main power band is above 3,500rpm and she sounds absolutely superb up there. In the wet, just remember that the combination of rear wheel drive and mid engine can bite, so use a sensitive right foot, steer smoothly and all is well. The handling is reasonable, is certainly entertaining, and brakes, steering and suspension are just fine for this type of car. On an economy run 40mpg is possible, but expect mid thirties with normal driving and up to 30 if driven hard.. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think she looks stunning, especially with the t-bar roof off. Toyota Super Red is a great colour too, just needs regular polishing and waxing to keep it shining like it should. Although 21 years old, my car looks pretty much as new, reflecting all the well deserved love and attention I give to it. I have owned dozens of cars, but this one has given me more satisfaction and fun than any of the others. Also, through Adrian Flux, my annual fully comp insurance is just under £160................
