Toyota MR2 1.8 VVTi 2d (AC+Hard Top) (2000/W) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Should sell on fairly well especially as it has AC, a hardtop and red leather seats.
Costs
Cheaper petrol and servicing than my old car so no problems here.

Driving
Nice low-slung driving position but with no traction control, a heavy right foot could put you into a spin, as I found to my cost on a wet corner. I'm now over cautious around the bends. Useless in snowy conditions.
Performance
Oomph when you get up to 4500 revs. I preferred driving my old 205 GTI though for all round fun.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems - has never failed to start.
Image
Poor man's Boxster? A bit girlie? Less ubiquitous than MX5 and MGFs though which is a good thing.
Comfort
Having to put luggage in the stowaway compartments behind the seats is always a pain! The seats have no memory so I always have to load from the passenger side to keep my seat in the right place. How I miss a nice boot!

Security and Service
Security
No problems but the alarm is almost inaudible.
Service
No problems at it's intermediate service - surprised by the cheap cost.
