Toyota MR2 1.8 VVTi 2d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
It's a sports car and its affordable. 95% as much fun as a Boxter/ Elise and a 1/ 3 of the price fule economy is better than my old Rover 200 1.4, I easily get 35+ mpg. And the parts are cheap and easly available.
Costs
Parts are cheap, fuel economy is good, service is £40 ish, compared to Elise, costs are free. It has the added benefit of not having the space to take the girlfriend shopping, unless she realises that the spare is in the garage.

On the road
Driving
It handles like an Elise, and sticks to the road. It's the most fun car I've ever driven. I drive to the corner shop via town for the sake of it. It's a great toy. I could never go back to a normal car.
Performance
It will beat most cars off the line, and is as good as it gets on corners. It corners as well as an Elise, watch as your passenger's face turns green as you take a 90 degree corner at 60. Toyota make a turbo for 200 bhp, the mr2 has endless torque.

Living with it
Reliability
It's a Toyota. You will break before it does. Only Toyota's and cockroaches can survive nuclear war. So fill the mr2 with cockroaches and get in for guarenteed survival!
Image
Far better than MX-5 infinatly better than MGTF in every way, especially image. It's not a fake like those menctioned, and not a hairdressers car . It's less common than the Boxter. Grin factor guarenteed. I find it covered in drool in the mornings.
Comfort
Great driving position, great instrument layout, seats do everything and the steering wheel tilts, so if you can't get comfy put a motor in a bean bag, because thats only way it will get better.

Security and Service
Security
The alarm volume is patheticly weak, because the spare covers the speaker, so, either move the speaker or leave the spare at home. It has deadlocks, immobliser, and all the usual, its not moving without keys.
Service
They are profesional, and do the work. compared to Rover they are Gods
