Toyota Prius Hatchback (2004 - 2009) 1.5 VVTi T Spirit Hybrid 5d CVT Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I purchased the Prius as I wanted an automatic and cheap to run car but didn't want a small car
I am averaging about 50mpg and the best I have had so far, on a long run, was 64mpg.. measured properly 'fill to fill' (using the same petrol pump mostly!)
So the Prius is a decent sized car, it's got a huge amount of space in the rear seat, but it's like running a small car
It's quite quiet and very smooth however there is some tyre roar on the motorway but it's not excessive
Another reason for buying the Prius is the fantastic service we have received from Toyota dealers; we had a Toyota Colorado and currently a Toyota Amazon 4x4 and they have been 100% reliable, just needing routine oil changes etc which we have Toyota carry out. They really are fantastic dealers, we have used two different Toyota dealers and had the same excellent, and very reasonably priced, service from both of them. I recently had a few little jobs that needed attention on the Prius, a squeak from nearside front wheel, air con re-gas, front interior light not working, and my Toyota dealer fixed them all, and provided me with a courtesy car, for nothing... £0's.. which I thought was superb of them
I have no idea why Prius seem to the butt of some jokes, it doesn't make sense to me, they are actually a very good car in their own right let alone the amazing technology involved. In my experience If the same technology was available with some other makes (Citroen, Peugeot & others spring to mind!) I would not trust it the same as I do in the Prius
I believe my Prius was actually Made In Japan and that counts for a lot in my mind
My T Spirit is massively equipped; there are 8 air bags, CVT automatic, cruise control, climate control/air con, electric windows all round, JBL stereo, adjustable steering wheel, multi function steering wheel, abs, stability control, colour reversing camera, automatic self parking, 4 cup holders, remote locking etc etc etc
I have owned 10's of cars and I think the Prius is right up there with the best of them and comes very highly recommended from me
How reliable do you find the car?
The air con was not working but didn't notice until the weather got warmer; I purchased in February so didn't try it out then. Had a sqeak from the front nearside wheel at low speed and the front interior light stopped working. This was all fixed by Toyota for nothing, £0, in August 2016. Toyota dealers are the best and they never ever seem like they want to 'rip you off'... very fair indeedAbout their car
