Toyota Prius Hatchback (2015 - 2022) 1.8 VVTi Business Edition Plus 5d CVT Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
First of all and this is my personal opinion from experience, I would like to dispel the misunderstood operational idiosyncrasies many journalists like to make large of.
25 years ago, journalists and celebrities were all pooping the idea of hybrids and they have certainly been shown to have got it all wrong.
These people with their limited experience of the individual car, they only have them for a short time to test, over the years produced all sorts of tripe. One of the best is how the hybrid system only kicks in in the town making the car quiet. This is completely untrue, I have been cruising at 60 65 miles an hour many many times and the engine is off, if the road is flat and you are up to speed or there is a slight downhill gradient, the engine is off even at high speeds, so that’s wrong.
The average fuel consumption shown is from new, however the car often does 75+ to the gallon on runs.
Some of these people even say that the gearbox the CVT has belts and pulleys, I mean where did they get the information from? There are no belts and pulleys on a Toyota hybrid gearbox.
I’ve often got the idea reading some of the reports that journalists and Petrolheads never liked the idea of the hybrid car and as a consequence the test and attitudes are out of perspective and limited.
Time has shown though that they got it all wrong constantly.
How reliable do you find the car?
Heat valve on the exhaust required replacement of catalytic converter
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Having owned five Toyota hybrids 4 prius one Auris this is the first one that has ever had an issue at all, see above catalytic converter replacement.
