Summary
What does this car say about you?
Sensible middle age 4x4 driver.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Neighbours: Looks great. Family: Are we there yet, my bums numb. Friends: Sensible car mate.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, rear door opening is a joke on some trim levels will only open 1/3 rd. Get a hatchback. Rear seat belts strangle kids and some adults they are not adjustable and are a danger, how Toyota can get away with this. A decent boot light is needed, dont go in there in the dark you cant see nothing. No iluminated window switches. Climate controls are all orange and small you can never tell what's what, and also up is down and vice versa, ergonomics ?. Rubbish ride, even the Toyota technician who took it out for a test drive said it's the worst Rav4 he's driven. Good diesel engine tho'.
What are you likely to buy next?
Was also looking at BMW X3 at the time, this or a Freelander, or something from Skoda.

Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£15,850
When did you buy the car?
June 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Price was competative, looking at the older models, then noticed this newer one.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Like the looks, something to replace an ageing Ford Galaxy, something that could tow.
What was the dealer like?
Most Excellent. Even accomodating 6 months later when we told them to keep it, and gave us a good price as we left on foot.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good, like the high driving position. But extremely poor ride comfort will tire you out very quickly, you'll be looking for somewhere to stretch your legs and back every hour.
What's it like to park?
Pretty good, with parking sensors.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Loads, all brake discs warped replaced under warranty but wouldn't replace the pads. Thought that was out of order. Gearbox couldn't engage 1st or 2nd gear, happened coming back from holiday whilst towing so wasn't much fun. Took it into dealers who adjusted linkage, then tried to charge me for it, even though under warranty. Had a water leak into the cabin, had to replace all the carpets and soundproofing, and part of the AC system.
What's most practical about your car?
Seemed to tow very well fully laden.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rear door stay from T180 variant, so you can fully open the rear door too get your shopping in. Get heated option for leather seats, we assumed they would've been from the factory. Decent boot light from a Peugeot estate.
