Toyota Starlet 1.0 GL 3d (1992/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Second-hand, 1700 euro, FSH, MOT just passed.
Costs
Cheap to run, with great MPG (as you'd expect from a 1.0-litre). Nothing else has gone wrong six months (and nearly 4000 miles down the road).

On the road
Driving
Pleasant on city roads, but not so good on the motorway. Good feedback from suspension, if a bit soft. Good brakes. Good traction. Nippy up to 55mph. All this after 11 years.
Performance
Nippy enough 'round town, just get a Senator for the motorway journeys if you've got a good way to go...

Living with it
Reliability
Perfection. Always starts. Manual choke makes it easy on a cold wet morning.
Image
Always looked dated in the '90s. Ain't no DB7.
Comfort
This is the BASIC model. Not a strong point.

Security and Service
Security
This car has no alarm. It wouldn't make economic sense to install one. Hope the locks are enough.
Service
Haven't dealt with the manufacturer and I'm not likely to either.
