Toyota Verso (2009 - 2018) 2.0 D-4D TR 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Bought this car mainly on the Toyota reputation for reliability after having other cars with annoying niggles. Car itself was more expensive than an equivalent Ford or Vauxhall and bought used from a Toyota dealer. It's an odd mix of feeling very solid and well screwed together but at the same time seems to be made from some very cheap plastics and scuffs extremely easily. Fuel consumption has been very poor (32mpg ish - and it's a diesel!) Driving experience isn't great but OK. I stuck with it as it had a satnav (mediocre but cope'able with) and a rear parking camera but the most important for me - great load space and some extra seats. I also thought I'd see at least 100,000 from it as I've been careful to look after it (expensive diesel, motorway runs, dealer servicing etc etc.) However, at just over 75,000 it conked out while driving - no warning lights etc. Investigations at the moment are revealing multiple problems - piston issues, turbo problems along with possible injector and DPF failure. I've never had a car fail quite so spectatculalry with so little notice before. Garage is currently researching secondhand engines...
