Toyota Yaris Hatchback (2006 - 2011) 1.4 D-4D TR 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Overall a great little car that has exceeded expectations.
Superb mpg, routinely averages 58mpg per tank with a mixture of roads and conditions and will achieve 62-66mpg if driving mainly motorway and A roads.
Cheap road tax at £30 per year.
It will happily cruise along at 70+ on the motorway.
Surprisingly roomy - and the sliding rear seats adds a little extra boot room. I've had a rowing machine and tall freezer in the back with the seats down.
Bullet proof 1.4 D4D engine.
Toyota reliability.
Little negatives are;
Poor radio/speakers.
Wind/Road noise - especially at higher speeds.
Heater can be slow to get up to temperature.
Seats are a little uncomfortable on long journeys (2-3+ hours).
How reliable do you find the car?
Accelerator cable was catching on the clutch pedal/cable and was worn (design flaw?). Throwing a code out that there was an issue with the throttle body/pedal resulting in the car going into limp home mode. Independent garages couldn't solve the issue. Took it to Toyota who redirected the cable and no issues since. To fix the problem required the removal of the dashboard and several hours of diagnostics to find the culprit.
