Should you buy a Toyota Yaris?
If you’re looking for a cheap car that will most likely not go wrong, and will broadly cause the least amount of fuss, a Toyota Yaris is a cracking buy.
Sure, it’s not the most interesting to look at, not the best place to sit and it’s not going to win any drivers’ car of the year awards. But it’s economical, surprisingly roomy for rear seat passengers and has a good safety score too.
A Ford Fiesta is broadly a bit nicer and a Renault Clio is more stylish.
We’d be very tempted to go for literally the cheapest model you can find with good service history. This works especially well if you’re genuinely not fussy about your car. Although we also recommend the hybrid models as these are really really economical around town.
