Economy
Value
Probably the best VFM in the hot hatch class. Not only do you get strong performance, but lots of extras too.
Costs
Insurance group is only 7, despite having better acceleration than many cars with in higher groups. Fuel economy also good, averages 38-39 mpg even when given a fair workout.

On the road
Driving
Easy to drive with forgiving clutch, slick gearbox, and light steering. Handling is superb, sticks to the road like glue at pace on bends. Very powerful and responsive brakes. Strong and reliable engine.
Performance
Don't underestimate the 'small' 1.5 litre engine. Great for over-taking and lots of oomph from upwards of 4500 rpm. Even at low revs and uphill it pulls reasonably well. Top speed isn't mindblowing, but it helps keep insurance down.

Living with it
Reliability
It's a Toyota. Enough said.
Image
Fresh and funky with lots of curves. Quite unique so bound to turn heads. Very nice alloy wheels, but shame they are only 15 inch.
Comfort
Very comfortable driver's seat. Sliding rear seats allow rear passengers to sit in comfort too. Ride is quite hard, but worth it for the handling. Air con as standard.

Security and Service
Security
Sensitive alarm, deadlocks and immobilisor.
Service
Friendly and courteous, but probably not the cheapest around. Reliability reduces need for repairs though.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Runs very well, but too noisy on the motorway, needs a 6th gear for cruising and better economy.
Other
Rattles and squeaks need to be drowned out by the stereo, as does the engine noise on the motorway.
