Toyota Yaris T Sport (2001 - 2005) 1.5 VVT-i 3d Owner Review

In their own words
Pros: Fast for what it is, Underestimated, Sunroof, Subtly sporty, Comfy recaro front seats, Fairly accurate mpg computer, Cheap insurance.
Cons: Large turning circle but you get used to it quickly, Ugly dash at first impression, 25-40mpg, Seats aren't very supportive if you plan on tracking it, very high seating position, Lacks no 6th gear 3.5k revs at 70.
I've owned this car for roughly a month, I love it. I never considered a Toyota I was more aiming for VW or something similar as a first car, but as a Honda and Jap FWD Fanboy I was open to the idea of a yota.
One of the cheapest cars to insure for me at 17, I'm paying £1350 and cars such as 1.2 Corsa's came out at £1450 etc.
It's quite spacious inside for what it is, the rear seats also move backwards and forwards so you can decide between boot space and passenger leg room.
The standard seating position is very high, I'm 6ft1 and I hit the roof lining when going over ceilings sometimes. This is a good thing as you can see the road better, but if you want a sportier feeling and looking car it can be a bad thing, or if you're tall like me.
The dashboard is unfortunately hideous, however I knew what it looked like before I went to view the car but I didn't really care. I bought the car mainly for its performance figures and insurance, not because of a dashboard layout.
Long story short, it's a great car, and makes a great base for a track car. Fantastic daily and easy to maintain.
If you get bored of its power output after a year or so there's multiple supercharger kits you can buy used for around £600, from manufacturers such as Blitz, Greddy & TTE. It'll make roughly 150bhp without other upgrades, but in a car weighing less than a tonne its great, putting the 0-60 very roughly at 6-7.5 seconds.
Colours other than Thundercloud Grey will most likely have laquer peel, just a warning.
How reliable do you find the car?
Exhaust bracket has snapped and the fuel gauge can be a bit strange sometimes, but that's it. Nothing important/bad.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Expected a bit more MPG, But I do drive like a bit of a 'boy racer' and get roughly 35mpg so it's not too bad.About their car
