The 1.5 VVTi unit uses variable valve timing to produce a useful 103bhp. Doesn’t sound or feel particularly special and you’ll probably think it needs an extra gear on the motorway, but a 0-62mph time of 9.0 seconds makes it feel quick off the line. A five-speed gearbox is the only transmission available.
Precise, light steering with secure handling that errs on the side of safety, rather than ultimate fun and as such understeers if pushed hard into a corner – great for those of us who aren’t rally drivers. Ride quality suffers on rough surfaces, but generally remains pleasant to drive.
