TVR Chimaera 4.0 2d (1995/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It wasn't bought with value in mind !
Costs
Super unleaded fuel only, servicing, insurance and repairs .... but who cares !
-
On the road
Driving
Left me with a grin going from ear to ear every time I drove it (except when it breaks down).
Performance
Wicked .... and don't forget the gorgeous noise !
-
Living with it
Reliability
It broke down on my wedding day .... say no more !
Image
The styling, the noise, the engine .... what a stunning car.
Comfort
I am 6ft 2" and struggled with headroom (good excuse to take the top down) and the seats not being high enough. Cabin gets very warm from engine and gearbox. Otherwise no problems.

Security and Service
Security
I'm sure you could get in with a lolly stick and some chewing gum if you tried !!!
Service
All servicing and repairs were carried out by a TVR specialist (approved TVR dealers were stupidly expensive)

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Injectors professionally cleaned and spark plug leads replaced breathed life back into my engine which was a bit tired when I bought it. Oil pressure gauge failed.
Other
Biggest problem was the car breaking down on my wedding day when a bracket holding on the rear diff snapped when the car got a bit sideways (I was late ... gulp !) which only cost £30 but entailed about £400 worth of labour to replace.
