Summary
What does this car say about you?
Who cares?? Buy a TVR because of the adrenaline rush and let others worry over the image! If image is you're thing then you probably wouldn't be man enough for a TVR!!!!!! He he!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone loves the look and especially the sound of the car! The girlfriend's face is a picture when we're driving down the road and a couple of pretty girls shout out 'nice car!' I've only ever had positive things shouted at me(so far)!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'd probably buy another model of TVR as this one is in top shape and is the top Chimaera variant.
What are you likely to buy next?
TVR Tuscan or Mercedes SL500....

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£0
When did you buy the car?
September 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, bought a well cared for, low mileage car in excellent condition from a knowledgeable trader. I think the Chimaera is excellent value for money considering it'll butcher a much newer Ferrari!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Loved the look and sound and was persuaded by the test drive!
What was the dealer like?
Excellent, there are a few Chimaeras about on the market so you should always haggle!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
FAST.... and brutal, the steering is heavy (no power steering) and the gearchange is very firm, car oversteers easily in the wet and extreme care must be taken. The grip in the dry is excellent and the car communicates well through the steering, brakes and suspension. The throttle response is instant and the turn in is razor sharp, although the ride is very good considering (better than a friend's MR2!). I dont think there are many cars that give you a sense of occasion like a TVR but it can be intimidating at first.
What's it like to park?
Hard work, poor visibilty with the hood down, no power steering and a very sharp throttle..... but if this is one of your priorities buy a VW or something!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Flat battery is all, doesn't like to be stood round for more than a week or the battery goes flat! other than that everything works perfectly. Dont confuse this with a German saloon though.....not an everyday car and wont take high mileage lightly. I think its probably the best built TVR though.
What's most practical about your car?
You dont tend to buy TVR if you want practical, however, the roof is very easy to put up or down and can be done by 1 person in 30 seconds. Roof fits in the boot with still enough room for a weeks shopping! Back panel can be folded completely or left in Targa position.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The big, noisy thing under the bonnet!!! Also the door entry and exit always baffles TVR virgins and brings a smile. The switch gear is a joy to look at and the cockpit is far removed from a eurobox.
