Ford Transit Custom (2024-on) dimensions
The Ford E-Transit Custom might get its own review but all the major differences are around the motor and battery – the fundamental shapes of the vans are identical.
This isn’t quite the case with the payload and towing ability, though – batteries are heavy so the electric versions aren’t able to match the diesels when it comes to how much weight you can put in the back or strap to the tow bar.
There are two lengths of the E-Transit Custom to start off with, although a high-roof version will be joining the range later.
Below are the dimensions for all the sizes in the Transit Custom range.

As the outside dimensions are the same on the diesel, so it follows that the interior remains unchanged too. There are the same loading bay options, too, including various linings, a glazed bulkhead (over the solid standard one) and different lighting arrangements.
There is also a Multicab version, which offers a fantastic and innovative L-shaped bulkhead so you can have two passengers and a narrow section of full-length loading bay. There is even a small load-through hole so you can get some longer items in. It’s not as big as most hatches, though, as it goes under the driver’s seat rather than the passenger one.

Electric vans can never boast the same payloads as their diesel equivalents, thanks to the relative weight of the battery and motor.
Ford E-Transit Custom payload
The E-Transit Custom still offers some decent payloads, but the maximum is still some way short of the 1,407kg maximum of the diesel.
The best payload the electric E-Transit Custom can offer is 1,088kg. This is for the lower power Trend model in L1H1.
There isn’t much variance in the range, though, with the lowest payload on the EV versions still above a tonne at 1,008kg. The only exception is the MS-RT, which dips just under to have a payload of 990kg.
Ford E-Transit Custom towing capacity
It’s much simpler here – every version of the E-Transit Custom can tow the same amount, at 2,300kg.
