SsangYong has taken the wraps off its new pick-up – the Korando Sports.
Based on the latest generation SsangYong Korando the maker claims that the Korando Sports will appeal to those who need an all-wheel-drive workhorse and a towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes. Thanks to its versatility it could make sense as a passenger car too.
The price of the new pick-up will be announced at its launch in October, however, we expect that it will cost under £20,000.
Under the bonnet the Korando Sports will be powered by the latest 152bhp 2.0-litre e-XDi active diesel engine and will have 360Nm of pulling power.
Two trim levels will be available when the Korando Sports goes on sale in Autumn. The SX will be the entry-level trim and will include cloth upholstery, manual aircon, 16-inch alloys, Bluetooth hands-free, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, stability control and Hill-Start Assist as standard.
Choose the flagship equipment grade and you add leather upholstery with seat warmers, powered driver’s seat, distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors. A six-speed automatic transmission with cruise control is also available as an option.
In practical terms the Korando Sports looks good. It has a large flat rear deck with 2.04-metre square load area complete with load deck liner and anchor points. An optional rigid hard top is available to provide weather protection and security to the load area.
The new Korando Sports is covered by a five-year limitless mileage warranty giving it a competitive edge when up against more established rivals like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux.
