This week, the focus for the ‘Parkers Van Deal of the Week’ is small and affordable city vans. Priced at just £7,999, the Renault Kangoo ML19 from ‘Loads of Vans’ is the cheapest van in its sector, and represents a saving of almost £6,000 off the recommended price.

Practical loadspace

Accessing the load area is easy with the Kangoo range offering a decent amount of room in the back. Payload on the lighter ML19 stands at 670kg, while the three cubic metre load volume means the Kangoo is one of the ‘larger’ small panel vans.

There’s only one choice of roof height across the Kangoo range which could be limited for some buyers who may want something taller. Despite this the roof is quite high as standard which means there is plenty of headroom.

A crucial element for many is the width between the wheelarches, which is wide enough to accommodate a Euro pallet at 1214mm and a nearside side loading door is also included.

On the road

The 1.5dCi engine was first introduced in the Clio back in 2001 and has been used in many vehicles in its time, including the Nissan NV200. Although performance may be lacking at 74bhp and 180Nm, it returns a respectable 61.4mpg on the combined cycle.

The high seating position and large windscreen mean visibility in the front of the van is excellent. Steering wheel is height adjustable while the seat back can be tilt-adjusted and the whole seat moved backwards and forwards. Thanks to this seat flexibility, finding a comfortable seating position is quite easy.

Financing and aftersales

Loads of Vans offer a number of finance deals, asides from the £7,999 plus VAT price tag. Hire purchase is available from £182 per month and leasing from £149 plus VAT a month, which works out at around £30 per week.

Renault offer one of the lengthiest warranties in the van industry, which cover up to four years or 100,000 miles. Service intervals are also respectable, at 25,000 miles or two years. Click here to browse all the latest offers.
