SsangYong is expanding its dealer coverage in the UK, with the addition of 10 new dealerships.
Although it only commands a minor share of the LCV market, the Korean manufacturer sells three commercial vehicles in the UK and this latest move should help to increase sales.
All three LCV models – the Rexton commercial, the Korando Sports and Korando commercial – were recently updated. It is hoped the new dealerships will raise the exposure of the new vehicles and therefore increase market share, which currently stands at a disappointing couple hundred units per year.
“Confidence in the SsangYong brand is unquestionably growing, and our business proposition for dealers is increasingly being recognised as these 10 new appointments testify,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.
“We warmly welcome each and every one to the SsangYong franchise, which has grown by 29 new dealerships in less than two years.”
SsangYong is currently benefiting from a US$900m (£563m) investment from new parent company, Mahindra, in its strive to double the global sales by 2016.
New models are in the pipeline, although no announcements have been made on further commercial variants.
