VW Transporter promises lower running costs

The Volkswagen Transporter has been updated to improve fuel consumption and to lower emissions.

A Bluemotion model been introduced with a host of updates including modifying the engine management system and transmission, use of low rolling resistance tyres, start/stop function and battery regeneration system. 

Powered by a 2.0-litre TDi with 112bhp and with 250Nm of pulling power, it can now achieve a claimed average of 48.7mpg (up 3.7mpg on the previous version) and emissions have fallen to 153g/km of CO2, a reduction of 13g/km. It means the van is capable of a theoretical range of 850 miles.

The VW Transporter Bluemotion is only available as a panel van starting from £19,245 (ex VAT) from VW Van Centres.
