On Friday the 13th, our Van Deal of the Week comes from Bristol Street Motors. The Citroen Nemo, which features the 73bhp version of the 1.3-litre turbodiesel engine, is up for £7,250 plus – a saving of over £4,500 off the list price.
In the cab
The Nemo has good space for a driver and passenger up to about six feet tall and the cabin is a user-friendly environment with good forward visibility. The controls are light, clearly marked and easy to use. A CD stereo comes as standard, as well as a driver’s airbag.
Load Area
The Nemo maximises the cargo capacity available within its compact dimensions and can swallow a Euro-pallet thanks to an internal load height of 1,180mm. A standard load deck length of 1,520mm helps contribute to a cargo volume of 2.5 cubic metres but with the new 1.3 HDi versions it can carry a payload of 660kg.
On the road
Small dimensions help the Nemo feel nimble on the road and even with a few sacks of gravel in the back it proves agile and responsive. The steering is light and the Nemo corners neatly, making it ideal for negotiating town traffic. The previous 1.4HDi engine was pretty noisy at 70mph on the motorway and with relatively high revs but the 1.3HDi is refined and relaxed when cruising.
Summary
The Nemo boasts small dimensions and turning circle for city driving, a surprisingly large load area and a respectable payload. Bristol Street Motors is a respectable nationwide retailer, and the £7,250 plus VAT is cheaper than sister vans; the Fiat Fiorino and Peugeot Bipper.
