The spotlight of this week’s ‘Van Deal’ is on car-derived vans.
Despite many notable manufacturers pulling out of the market over the past 15 years, sales of the Ford Fiesta van remain strong thanks to its wide range of engines, car-like driving and stylish interior.
Our deal doesn’t just apply to one particular derivative this week; instead, there are a range of vans to suit the customers’ requirements. Prices start from £8,809 plus VAT for the base model with the 1.25-litre petrol, which represents a saving of around £3,000 off the list price.
Inside the cab
The interior is based on that of the passenger car, so it’s well presented and stylish. Standard features on the base model include a radio with CD player and MP3, Bluetooth and auxiliary connectivity. There is also remote central locking and a height adjustable driver’s seat.
Trend models, which are available for £1,100 more, receive air conditioning, heated windscreen, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, a 3.5-inch display and lumbar support.
Under the bonnet
Fiesta’s can be powered by a choice of three engines; a 1.25-litre petrol (81bhp), a 1.5-litre diesel (73bhp) and a 1.6-litre diesel (93bhp). The cheapest deal, at £8,809 plus VAT, is for the 1.25-litre petrol, although the 1.5-litre diesel can be chosen for £500 extra. The petrol will achieve around 41.5mpg on the combined run, whereas the diesel claims 64.2mpg.
Cargo Area
Car derived vans aren’t renowned for their carrying abilities, and the Ford Fiesta van is no exception. The load volume is one cubic metre, while the payload stands at 485kg for the petrol and 508kg for the diesel. There is a mesh bulkhead and access is provided via a rear tailgate.
Summary
Starting at just £8,809, the Ford Fiesta van represents huge value for money. The Fiesta is fairly respected in terms of reliability, and is backed up by Ford’s CV dedicated network of Transit Centres. The warranty is valid for three years, or 60,000 miles; whichever comes first.
