The IAA Transportation is the new name for the IAA Commercial Vehicles show, but the principle remains the same – this is one of the biggest events in the world of vans, pickups, trucks and buses.
The show last took place in 2018 but is back for 2022 with plenty of big stories from the show floor and from the run up to the event.
As well as all the information on where the show is and how to get tickets, we have the full lowdown on all the big product reveals and announcements.
What manufacturers are at the 2022 IAA Transportation commercial vehicles show?
There are a selection of major manufacturers with vehicles on show at IAA Transportation 2022, although some big names are missing. Below is who we know will be in attendance.
Ford
Ford’s IAA stand star is the new E-Transit Custom. It announced lots of the major features of the new van shortly before the IAA, revealing that it will have a walk-through cabin, a steering wheel that folds flat to create a table and 125kW fast charging.
There were two diesel models alongside the new E-Transit Custom, though, which showed the more conventional grille for the new version. One was in a high-spec but conventional trim while the other showed what a Trail version of the new Transit Custom will look like.
Iveco
Iveco has shown off the new electric eDaily at the IAA with some exciting technology around batteries on show.
The van offers a choice of one, two or three batteries, but with the ability to swap them in or take them out in the future if you want more range or more payload. Iveco will also replace the batteries if their capacity drops below 80%.
MAN
MAN, the manufacturer more famous for its trucks than its vans, will be at the IAA with an electric eTGE with a Schoon boxy body and a panel van with Lion S and Bott shelves. There is also set to be plenty of talk around MAN Services – think how you buy, run and manage a van.
Maxus
SAIC Maxus’s stand features the brand’s recently launched T90EV electric pickup truck and, oddly for a commercial vehicle show, the nine-seater Mifa 9.
The models are the first production versions, with the brand having shown off pre-production vehicles at the CV Show back in May 2022.
Renault
Renault’s big news is the announcement that its Trafic van is going electric. The launch of the Renault Trafic E-Tech means that the brand now has an electric version of all three of the major van categories, following on from the Master E-Tech and the recently launched Kangoo E-Tech.
Renault also showed off a concept van that is based on the electric Kangoo E-Tech van. Called the Hippie Caviar Motel, the van is a lifestyle vehicle designed to act as a ‘mobile shelter for adventurers and sports enthusiasts who love the outdoors.’ Those adventurers had better not have too many friends, though, as the bed in the back is only a single.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen has the new Amarok and the ID.Buzz Cargo on display. While we have had a chance to drive the new ID.Buzz Cargo, this is the first chance for anyone to have a close look at the new Amarok pickup truck.
