Pricing for the Renault Trafic E-Tech has been announced. The mid-sized electric van is on sale now in a choice multiple lengths and heights.
The Renault Trafic E-Tech is the third model in the brand’s range to go electric, joining the Kangoo E-Tech and Master E-Tech and was revealed for the first time at the 2022 IAA Transportation show in Hannover. It means that the company now has a rival to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz eVito, the Ford Transit Custom and the Stellantis medium vans such as the Citroen Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Vauxhall Vivaro.
What range and payload will the Renault Trafic E-Tech come with?
The official range on offer from the Renault Trafic E-Tech has improved since it was first announced, with up to 186 miles possible according to the official WLTP figures. This comes courtesy of the single 52kWh battery that is paired to a 120hp electric motor that produces 245Nm of torque. This motor is also a step up from the 90Kw version that was first announced when Renault revealed the Trafic E-Tech.
The van will be a bit of a rarity in the mid-size electric van sector as it will be offered with a choice of two heights as well as two lengths. Many rivals have more than one length but no taller model available. There are three combinations available, an SL30 (short and low) a LL30 (long and low) and LH30 (long and high).
The numbers in the model versions refer to the gross vehicle weight, which is 3,070 for each model. This translates to a strong selection of payloads, which are 1,222kg for the smallest model, 1,185kg for the medium and 1,083kg for the largest. All three offer a 920kg braked towing capacity.
There are multiple types of charging offered, it will take up to 32 hours to charge the battery on a standard domestic plug, but just eight hours using a domestic 7kW AC charger. A 22kW AC charger at public chargepoints should take just 1.5 hours to get from 0-100%. It will also, unlike the larger Renault Master E-Tech, be available with a 50kW DC charger for fast charging on the motorway and at other public hubs. This system will take an hour to get from 0-100%.
What body shapes and specifications will the Renault Trafic E-Tech come in?
There will be two lengths and two heights of Renault Trafic E-Tech, the same as the diesel models. The short-wheelbase L1 model is 5.08m long, while the L2 measures up at 5.48m. The H1 is 1,967mm tall while the H2 is 2,498mm high – a few mm out from the diesel models, but not by enough to have any impact.
The interior dimensions are unchanged, with cargo bays ranging from 5.8m3 to 8.9m3. There are the same storage features as in the diesel, too, with the load-through hatch enabling a maximum loading length of 4.15m on the L2 model.
There is just a single trim, Advance, which comes with a high level of safety technology and interior kit. Below are some highlights
