The updated Fiat E-Ducato has been revealed at Solutrans, the commercial vehicle show in Lyon, France. The large van has been facelifted and will come with a new battery that will boost its range to 261 miles, which will be one of the best electric-van ranges available.

The Fiat E-Ducato is not alone in being updated, as the facelift comes as part of a huge programme of updates to 12 commercial vehicles in four Stellantis model ranges.

The most notable update is that improved electric range on the E-Ducato, which represents a 30% increase over the outgoing model. This comes thanks to the new 110kWh battery and represents a big step up from the previous large-van maximum of around 175 miles.

Updated looks inside and out

The Ducato has had a visual update on the outside and in the cabin, with the front end getting a new look featuring a series of geometric shapes on the grille. The basic shape remains unchanged, as the vehicle underneath remains largely the same as it has been since it first launched back in 2006.

The interior gets a little more in the way of a revamp, though. While the fundamental design is also unchanged, there is now a large screen in the centre of the dashboard as standard. This will be the central point for several new features, such as the Dynamic Surround Vision that uses cameras around the van to give the driver a view around the outside of the van.

There will also be a higher level of connectivity, which will allow drivers and fleet managers to remotely link up to the vehicle to check its status and see real-time information on it.

Fiat has yet to give a full breakdown of the payloads available when the E-Ducato features the new 110kWh battery, but the van on the Solutrans stand claimed a 1,460kg carrying ability. This is with a 4,250kg gross vehicle weight, though, so a 3.5-tonne van would have significantly less.

When does the 2024 Fiat E-Ducato go on sale and how much will it cost?

The Fiat E-Ducato will start heading out to first customers in early 2024, with more information expected on pricing and equipment before the end of 2023.
