The updated Vauxhall Combo has been revealed with revised looks, some notable price reductions and an improved range for what is already one of the best electric vans.
Stellantis confirmed that the Vauxhall vans would be updated as part of a huge en-masse facelift programme for the brands’ commercial vehicle ranges. However, Vauxhall has now specified that the new Combo will be getting the brand’s ‘Vizor’ front end look, a new lighting setup and an upgraded interior.
The Vizor look is the one first seen on Vauxhall’s passenger cars, such as the Mokka SUV but now prevalent across the range. It features a smooth panel thar runs the width of the grille, with the latest company badge in the middle.
The Vauxhall Combo also features the brand’s adaptive ‘Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Lights’. This sees the headlights come with 14 LED elements that cut oncoming drivers out of the main beam when it senses them approaching at night.
Electric upgrades
There are some more important changes underneath the Vauxhall Combo Electric version, with revisions to the battery resulting in an extension of the van’s range. It can now go 30 miles further, with a maximum official range of 205 miles. This has been brought about by changes to the drivetrain and the addition of a heat pump, which helps save battery power.
The rest of the Combo Electric remains unchanged, which means you still get a 136hp motor, a top speed of 81mph and a potential 0-80% charging time on a 100kW public point. The payload remains at 780kg and the towing capacity at 750kg.
Spec tweaks
The cabin gets an upgrade, too, with the infotainment system getting a new 10-inch screen to go alongside a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and wireless smartphone connection. It also gets a ‘Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform’ that integrates AI for the first time.
Lower trims get a new smartphone station, which allows you to control the infotainment screen using your phone.
Other welcome additions are around safety, with a new surround vision system utilising cameras to see behind and in the blind spot while on the move. Both displays appear on a digital display on the rear-view mirror.
How much is the facelifted Vauxhall Combo and when can I buy one?
Perhaps the most welcome news is that the Vauxhall Combo Electric gets a big price cut as part of the facelift. The starting price has been cut by £4,450 to begin at £28,550 (not including VAT). The diesel Combo starts at £20,850. Orders will open by the end of the year, with more information on precise specifications and model prices closer to the on-sale date.
