The 2024 CV Show brought together some of the biggest manufacturers in the UK van industry, with big news and debuts from the likes of Ford and Renault. The UK’s biggest van show took place at the NEC in Birmingham from 23 to 25 April 2024.
Electric vans played a central role, with the new Renault Master making its UK debut, while Ford announced a new longer-range E-Transit. Maxus and B-On were also showing vans off to the UK public for the first time, while Isuzu revealed a special version of the D-Max pickup truck.
The good news for the show and attendees is that the number of major manufacturers at the show was noticeably up compared to recent years. Ford remained the biggest attraction in terms of show-floor space, though, as the UK’s bestselling van brand took its usual huge stand, which dwarved all others in terms of size and number of vehicles.
However, the return of Renault, which hadn’t been at the CV Show since 2018 (it planned to be there in 2020, but Covid had other ideas) was a welcome boost for the show and attendees.
The relative lack of huge names – the Stellantis brands, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen were all absent – gives more space for a raft of new and upcoming manufacturers. Maxus has made the most of this in recent years, choosing to reveal a pair of brand-new models.
This year also saw the first CV Show appearance for B-On, which is showing off its first UK model, the Pelkan. DFSK and Skywall are both represented by importers Innovation Automotive and had little to show but something to hint at for the future.
What manufacturers were at the CV Show in 2024?
Below are all the brands that were at the 2024 CV Show and what they were showing.
Ford
As ever, the UK’s best-selling brand went big at what is essentially its home show. The big news is the launch of the new extended range Ford E-Transit that now comes with a bigger battery that boosts the range to 249 miles. It comes with various different add-ons such as a heat pump to boost efficiency and maximise range.
The company’s most popular model also played a prominent role, with the Ford Transit Custom appearing in various forms. You might already be able to buy the diesel model, but Ford took the opportunity to showcase some of the other versions, such as the electric E-Transit Custom.
The Ford Transit Courier also took its place in the NEC hall. This is another vehicle that’s already on sale, but it is very recently on the market so it will be a first opportunity for many to get up close to what is now Ford’s smallest van.
There was also an electrified Transit Connect, although this was a plug-in hybrid van rather than a full EV. This is Ford’s take on the Caddy, created as a result of the brand’s partnership with Volkswagen. Even though the Caddy has been out for a while now, the Ford has been slightly later to arrive and it finally goes on sale in 2024.
Renault
It was a welcome return to the CV Show for Renault, with the French brand making its first appearance at the NEC since 2018. Things have changed somewhat for the company since then, with every model in the range replaced since that last appearance.
All three of the brand’s models are electrified, too, with the new Renault Master E-Tech taking centre stage on the stand. The new van made its debut in the UK, having first appeared at the Solutrans show in France in November 2023.
The van appearing in Birmingham was a UK-specific, right-hand-drive model, though. It showed off the brand’s new visual identity as well as all the features of the model that will start shipping to customers from July.
Renault also confirmed the impending arrival of the Mobilize Bento, which will come to the UK in 2025. This small urban electric vehicle promises to be a Citroen Ami Cargo rival with more speed and a bigger range.
B-On
Not heard of B-On? You won’t be alone, as the company is a new one to the UK and was only created in its current form in 2020. It is, unsurprisingly, another company that is planning to bring electric vans to the market and it is starting with the B-On Pelkan, a mid-size van that is due to go on sale in the early part of 2025.
The van on show was a version that is close to production, although B-On is still looking to make a few tweaks. The top-hinged side door is one thing that is likely to change, with the company assessing different options in the coming months. There will also be new options for the interior storage in the front passenger door.
Maxus
Maxus has become somewhat of a regular at the CV Show in recent years and has shown off a raft of new models in the process. 2024 was no different with the brand showing off two brand new vehicles.
This time it was the Maxus eDeliver 5 taking centre stage. As the numbering system suggests, this is smaller than the mid-size eDeliver 7 but larger than the eDeliver 3, so Maxus really is aiming to fill every gap in its portfolio. Like the rest of the range, it will be electric only, with one battery option providing a range of 208 miles and a payload of around 1,200kg.
It’s good to go already, with Maxus taking orders at the show. Pricing starts at £34,000 before VAT.
The second model was a slightly unusual one by the CV Show standards, as it is a passenger car – the MIFA 7. This is a smaller people carrier, following on from the MIFA 9.
DFSK/Skywall
Innovation Automotive was back at the show for 2024. The importer is responsible for bringing DFSK and Skywall into the UK. Currently DFSK’s only model is a small electric van – the EC35.
However, there are not many more of this vehicle left to sell and there are no plans to bring any more. Instead, expect to see a range of vans on the way in the coming couple of years, some badged DFSK and others Skywall.
There will be a small, medium and large van on the way, with an electric pickup also a possibility.
Isuzu
Isuzu is another CV Show regular. It is fairly easy to guess what it based its stand display around, given that it only sells the D-Max pickup truck in the UK. Once again it was the D-Max that takes centre stage, and it is another accessory-laden version – the V-Cross Steel Edition.
However, Isuzu also showed off a show special version of the Arctic Trucks take on the D-Max, the AT37. This showcases yet more of the brand’s accessory range on an extreme go-anywhere version of the truck.
How do I get tickets to the CV Show in 2025 and how much do they cost?
You will be able to get tickets to the 2025 CV Show closer to the time, but the good news is that tickets are likely to be free as they are every year. All you need to do is register with the CV Show website.
