Maxus is continuing with its goal to offer an electric van in every possible size and segment with the launch of the Maxus eDeliver 5 at the 2024 CV Show.

The eDeliver 5, as the name suggests, is smaller than the mid-size eDeliver 7 but bigger than the small eDeliver 3. It is closest in size to the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo, which also sits in between the two segments.

The van on display on the CV Show stand is no pie-in-the-sky concept, either, as the finished version is not far away. The eDeliver 5 is available to order now with first deliveries commencing from August 2024.

How big is the Maxus eDeliver 5?

There will be more than one version of eDeliver 5, with a choice of heights and lengths available, as is the case with the larger eDeliver 7. The internal capacities range from 6.6 cubic metres to 7.6m3. There is only the one length but two heights to choose from.

The lower H1 version is 1,960mm high, slotting just under the 2m mark that is crucial for many urban height restrictions, while the H2 model is 2,180mm. Both are 4,800mm long and 1,874mm wide.

The payload is strong for a small van, too, with the eDeliver 5 able to carry up to 1,200kg.

There are three seats across the front of the eDeliver 5's cabin.

All this puts it quite close to both the small eDeliver 3 and the larger eDeliver 7, but Maxus is confident that there is a case for all three to co-exist. The eDeliver 5 comes with three seats across the cabin, for example, while the smaller 3 only has two seats.

What range and motor does the Maxus eDeliver 5 have?

There is just the one battery and motor combination offered in the Maxus eDeliver 5. The battery is a 64kWh unit that is able to propel the van for 208 miles between charges according to the official WLTP tests.

This is a different battery capacity to all other Maxus vans, with the bigger eDeliver 7 coming with two larger units of 77kWh and 88.55kWh, while the smaller eDeliver 3 has a 50kWh unit.

The motor in the eDeliver 5 produces 161hp and 240Nm of torque.

What equipment does the Maxus eDeliver 5 come with?

As has been the case with recent Maxus vans, the eDeliver 5 comes with a generous level of equipment. The standard kit list includes the following:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane keep assistance
  • 360-degree surround-view camera
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Speed limit system
  • 12.3-inch centre screen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto
  • Double side sliding rear doors

Navigation, voice control and telematics are all available as options.

How much does the Maxus eDeliver 5 cost and when is it on sale?
