Iveco will be releasing two new electric vans in Europe in the large and medium markets thanks to a newly agreed partnership with mega group Stellantis. The agreement will see yet another manufacturer produce its own take on the Stellantis large and medium vans, which are also sold under five other different brands.
The two companies have signed a 10-year agreement, which is expected to see the first Iveco-branded vehicles go on sale from mid 2026. Stellantis will provide the platform and then Iveco will be able to put its own look onto the various elements that can be altered.
The other vans that the large van would be related to are the Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Vauxhall Movano and the Toyota Proace Max. The medium vans are the Citroen Dispatch, Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, Vauxhall Vivaro and the Toyota Proace. The Ivecos would be most similar to the Toyotas, as they are produced under a similar agreement, with the company taking Stellantis’s vans and putting its own twist on things, while all the other brands are part of the Stellantis group.
The initial statement is fairly brief as things stand, but the two vans would sit alongside the existing Iveco eDaily. The large and medium vans would be looking to cover a slightly lower weight bracket, targeting the market between 2.8 and 4.25 tonnes, whereas the eDaily is a hardier vehicle that can be had with a gross vehicle weight of up to 7.2 tonnes. The medium will weigh between 2.8 and 3.1 tonnes while the large will be from 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes.
The large Stellantis van is already getting on in years, but the 10-year partnership doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be continuing for another decade or more. The agreement should cover the next generation of Stellantis van, in both large and medium categories, as and when they are launched.
Despite the fact that both vans were originally designed to be powered by internal combustion engines, the agreement is for electric vehicles only.
