The Toyota Proace City Electric van comes with a single choice of electric motor, battery pack and trim level, but is available in short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) versions, simply labelled Short and Long.
Payload ratings are excellent for an electric van, and the load area is generous, too, with a load-through bulkhead called Smart Cargo fitted as standard.

More info about the cargo area of the Toyota Proace City Electric
All models come with six load-lashing hooks and lighting in the load bay.
This is very straightforward for the Proace City Electric, as there are only two versions.
Toyota Proace City Electric van payload:
Proace City Electric | Short (L1) | Long (L2) |
Max payload | 803kg | 751kg |
For a small electric van, that’s a really good maximum payload – higher, in fact, than some ordinary diesel rivals.
However, it may be worth noting that the diesel version of the Proace City can carry over 1,000kg in some specifications.
Toyota Proace City Electric van towing capacity
Both versions of the Proace City Electric are limited to towing 750kg – a figure that applies to both braked and unbraked trailers.
This is certainly one area where electric vans struggle compared with conventional diesel vans; with an optional towing pack, a diesel Proace City can tow up to 1,500kg.
That said, towing is rarely a major consideration when shopping for a small van.
