Vauxhall Vivaro dimensions (2014-on)
Compared to the previous Vauxhall Vivaro, this model’s load bay benefits from an 11cm length increase, which, together with a pair of bulkhead access hatches, gave it the joint-largest carrying capacity volume in its class at the time of launch in 2014.
Should you need even more space, the rear doors can be held open, providing the load is securely tied down using the 16 (18 on longer L2 Vivaros) internal lashing points.
Vauxhall offers a variety of in-house load area customisation packages, from straightforward ply linings to complex racking systems.
This Vauxhall Vivaro comes in two bodylengths and two roof heights.
The bodylengths are labelled L1 for the short-wheelbase (SWB) models, and L2 for the long-wheelbase (LWB) models, with L2 being 40cm longer than L1.
Similarly, the roof heights are H1 and H2, and the height difference between the two is nearly 50cm.
In practice few H2 Vivaros are sold, not least because they have a longer lead time since they're the only Vivaros built in Renault's factory in France rather than Vauxhall's plant in Luton. They're also nearly 2.5m tall, making them more difficult to park in some car parks.

Vauxhall Vivaro van size | L1H1 | L1H2 | L2H1 | L2H2 |
Maximum load length (mm) | 2,537 | 2,537 | 2,937 | 2,937 |
Maximum load height (mm) | 1,387 | 1,898 | 1,387 | 1,898 |

You can increase load length by up to 81cm using the access hatch available to load-through the bulkhead (40cm initially, with a further 41cm available if you extend right into the footwell using additional flaps beneath the passenger seat).
This increases the maximum load length to 3,750mm for the Vivaro L1, and 4,150mm for the L2.
All Vauxhall Vivaros of this generation have a payload rating in excess of 1.0-tonne (1,000kg), an achievement that certainly looked impressive compared to some medium van rivals at launch.
However, with a maximum payload rating on the most heavy duty versions of not quite 1,300kg (1.3 tonnes), the Vivaro falls short of the most payload capable competitors - including the Ford Transit Custom, some of which can carry in excess of 1,400kg (1.4 tonnes).
This is in part due to the Vivaro's limited maximum gross vehicle weight ratings - GVW being the total allowed weight of the vehicle and everything on board - which only just exceed 3.0 tonnes on the toughest models.
Look for Vivaro variants labelled 2900 if maximum payload is important to you.

Vauxhall Vivaro towing capacity is 750kg unbraked and 2,000kg braked - a reasonable performance but some way short of the 3,500kg (braked) that some larger vans can manage.
