Vauxhall Agila 1.0i 12V 5d (2004/04) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Paid £4995 new, got what i paid for but would at least expect to get driver's seat height adjustment and four speakers instead of two as standard.
Costs
Fuel economy is no where near what is advertised, I travel 60 miles to work and back using motorways and struggle to get 42 mpg. Previously had a Corsa 1.0 12v and the fuel consumption was better than the Agila, the Corsa was 6 years old.

Driving
The heavy body makes this car very slow. It struggles to get up to a decent cruising speed and when you do the first incline that you approach will soon slow you down.
Performance
Very noisy in low gears giving loud growls from the engine during gear change. Once you get up to 70mph the noise from engine evens out.

Living with it
Reliability
Too early to say but so far this car has not let me down.
Image
Have had no end of jokes made about the image of this car, Postman Pat, and my daughter will not let me drop her off near school in my clown car as she calls it. I don't say that I can blame her for that.
Comfort
Roomy inside for the tallest passenger and plenty of foot space for driver & front passenger but not so much leg room in back for passengers - adults would be very uncomfortable.

Security and Service
Security
Very basic security.
Service
Three visits to dealer before they could rectify the suspension problems I was having, the reason I bought new was to keep me away from workshops.
