Vauxhall Astra Coupe 1.8i 16v 2d (2001/X) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Rapid depreciation in first few years, picked up my X reg in mint condition for £6,200, not bad when you think these are 16k new.
Costs
Only group 9 insurance so pretty cheap, fuel economy is good, 400 miles from a full tank if you drive steady.

On the road
Driving
Excellent overall, 1.8 16v is quite punchy, confident road handling.
Performance
1.8 16v is more than adequate, pulls very well, handles road confidently with plenty of grip, very little body roll.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems so far in 18 months, apart from outside temp gauge not working and bulb behind dash going.
Image
Not many of these around so still turns heads, understated, classy car.
Comfort
Good driving position with plenty of adjustments available to both seats and steering wheel, shame it doesn't come with leather.
